Message regarding Massachusetts HIV Drug Assistance Program (HDAP) coverage of 340B drugs dispensed by pharmacies for Health Safety Net (HSN) patients
As of October 1, 2026, HDAP will not pay for drugs acquired through the 340B Drug Pricing Program for individuals whose medical care costs are reimbursed by HSN.
Pharmacies must submit only non-340B pharmacy claims for HSN covered individuals enrolled in HDAP.
Pharmacies that are registered with the MassHealth Pharmacy Program to use drugs acquired through the 340B Drug Pricing Program will begin seeing the following a rejection message for HDAP clients enrolled in HSN with claims submitted from 340B stock, effective October 1, 2026:
• 70 – Product/Service Not Covered - 340b HDAP pharmacy claims are not permitted for Health Safety Net (HSN) patients. Resubmit as a non-340b claim.
Please note that HDAP cannot cover PrEP or PEP medications for HIV-negative individuals. There are currently no changes to PrEP and PEP Drug Assistance Program medication coverage policies.
